Multi-dimensional energy harvester for battery-less IoT wireless nodes

Multi-dimensional energy harvester for battery-less IoT wireless nodes

Wave has started working on a multi-dimensional henergy harvester dedicated to power wireless IoT end nodes. The Harvester will be developed in the frame of a public funded contract by Regione Lazio under the Strategical Aerospace Funding, POR 2014-2020. The project number is A0320-2019-28128,  date 29/07/2019, code CUP F84D20000030003, Code Name: “Precision fARming for sustAinable proDuctIon in Suburban arEas (PARADISE)”

The harvester will take advantage of up to 3 energy sources: temperature, sun, radio energy at the same time to power the IoT electronics. The harvester will be capable to operate a LoRa end node and a number of environmental sensors for 24/7 monitoring without any backup battery.

Initially developed for Smart Agriculture applications in future evolutions it will be adapted also for urban/industrial scenarios.

This ambitious project can cut drastically the Operating Expenses (OPEX) of a distributed smart agriculture system.

The project will end in Q4 2022 with a full qualified exemplar.
